Publish: Abstract 開放編輯牆 Open Edit Wall

Publish: Abstract 前身為 Abstract，由「開放編輯桌」*的客座主持以及參與者所共同編輯的一份異質攝影書評。

在〈奶油與麵包書店〉現地創作計畫中，傻瓜書日邀請來自藝術出版領域、不同角色的客座藝術家，擇定三本攝影出版物，於「開放編輯桌」現場與讀者共讀，並採集討論過程中的閒聊、零食、塗鴉、劃重點、黏便條紙等閱讀行為，作為後續的限地出版材料。活動結束後，我們將實體與抽象的討論遺痕收集、彙編成兩份名為 Abstract #1、Abstract #2 的集體出版物。

「試刊號三現場活動」邀請藝術家郭展源客座主持三場次「開放編輯牆」，每場次約 20-25 分鐘，力邀參展者於書展首日的午後，手持粗筆，在牆上一起展開一本攝影書。呼應傻瓜書日衛星展（兩檔選書展「沿著邊界折疊」、「我愛我家」與一檔創作個展「1LDK」），藝術家將於三場展覽中各自選定一本攝影出版物，開啟關於「家屋」、「家屋結構」、「家庭物件邊界」的討論，並在活動後將集體討論中的塗鴉與註解，翻拍、編輯成一份傻瓜書日的現地出版物：Publish: Abstract。

* Abstract 和「開放編輯桌」是傻瓜書日的現地創作計畫〈奶油與麵包書店〉中的兩個公眾參與項目，此計畫原展出於第 12 屆挪威當代藝術雙年展「Momentum 12: Together as to gather」，由挪威藝術家組合 Tenthaus 策畫，其藝術家成員暨共同策展人郭展源，邀請傻瓜書日於 2023 年前往挪威參展。該現地創作計畫由傻瓜書日林君燁主持。

客座主持人：郭展源
郭展源出生於台北，初心玄秘宮，現居奧斯陸，前 Tenthaus 藝術家成員，負責攝影、平面設計、出版及策展協作。他的個人創作則多以雕塑、裝置、文字、聲音及合作，探索家庭、代際和其周遭的秘密。

1991 年生於宜蘭，為自出版人、編輯、撰稿人及攝影書展策畫，其藝術實踐與書寫關注影像與攝影出版，以及臺灣和東南亞的當代影像創作者如何觀看。傻瓜書日 Fotobook DUMMIES Day 共同主持人。

Previously known as Abstract, Publish: Abstract is an alternative photobook review collectively edited by the participants and guest hosts of “Open Edit Table”. 

For this ㄏㄏ, Fotobook DUMMIES Day invites all kinds of characters from the art publishing scene to act as guest hosts, selecting three photo publications to read, alongside readers on-site at “Open Edit Table”. The chit-chatting, snacking, doodling, highlighting, post-it noting and various other reading habits that take place during the discussion are taken in as publishing materials, with these physical and abstract traces of the discussion gathered and compiled into the collective publications Abstract #1 and Abstract #2 after the event.

For the upcoming Fotobook DUMMIES Day 2023 “Publish 3” event, we invite artist Jacky Jaan-Yuan Kuo to guest host three sessions of “Open Edit Wall”, with each session lasting approximately 20-25 minutes. On the first afternoon of the fair, we call upon participants to come armed with a marker and collectively open up a photobook on the wall. Echoing the Fotobook DUMMIES Day satellite exhibitions “Fold Along the Lines”, “wo ai wo jia” and the solo exhibition “1LDK”, artists will also select one photo publication each from the three exhibitions and open up discourse on “the home”, “the structure of a house” and “the boundaries of domestic objects”. After the event, the scribblings and annotations collected from the discussion will be rephotographed and edited into an on-site Fotobook DUMMIES Day publication: Publish: Abstract.

Abstract and “Open Edit Table” are two public engagement events held as part of the site-specific project “Bread and Butter Bookshop”, by Fotobook DUMMIES Day. The project first appeared at Norway’s Momentum 12: Together as to gather, curated by Norwegian artist collective Tenthaus. Fotobook DUMMIES Day was invited to exhibit at the biennale in 2023 by Jacky Jaan-Yuan Kuo, a member and co-curator of Tenthaus. The site-specific project is hosted by Lin Junye of Fotobook DUMMIES Day.

Jacky Jaan-Yuan Kuo
Jacky Jaan-Yuan Kuo was born in Taipei and has his roots in the twelfth astrological house. Currently residing in Oslo, he is an artist and a member of Tenthaus, where he contributes to photography, graphic design, publishing, and collaborative curation. In his personal artistic practice, he delves into the secrets of families, transgenerational representations, and their surroundings through an array of artistic mediums such as sculpture, installation, text, sound, and collaboration.

Project creator: Lin Junye
Born in Yilan in 1991, Lin Junye is a self-publisher, editor, freelance writer and art book fair curator. Her art practice and writing focuses on images and photo-publishing, and the ways of seeing by Taiwanese and Southeast Asian contemporary photo practitioners. She is the co-founder of Fotobook DUMMIES Day.
