A Way of seeing: Reading Southeast Asia through photobook and self-publishing (Prologue)

A Way of Seeing: Reading Southeast Asia through photobook and self-publishing (Reading SEA) is a field research project focusing on photobooks and self-publishing that initiated by Fotobook DUMMIES Day (FBDD). This includes Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Ho Chi Minh City and Yangon. We visited and interviewed the artists, self-publishers, artist collectives, bookstores, archives and organizations on-site. Reading SEA is a try out of mapping the self-publishing and photography scene in Southeast Asia. On the 12th of January 2020, FBDD published The prologue of Reading SEA including 6 interviews each for 6 cities alongside 6 publication reviews as the first step of Reading SEA.
